James Gorrie

My earliest memories were of sailing up the west coast of Canada in an old dutch made wooden ketch with my family and grandparents. Ever since I was little I have been drawn to the mountains and waters of B.C. It would take another fifteen years before I would be able to make the permanent move to B.C. and call the sea to sky corridor my home.

Having grown up as a ski racer on the hills of Ontario I was thrilled at the discovery of powder snow literally everywhere. It was so good that made the the switch to split boarding, and I haven’t looked back since. I split my time between mountain biking and splitboarding, with a little climbing and through hiking thrown in. Basically, any activity that allows me to be in the mountains that I am now fortunate enough to call home. My favourite pieces of gear from Escape Route have to be my MSR Access tent and my Phantom -18º sleeping bag. Both of which are absolute necessities for me to have on my winter adventures.
